Ellon Farmers Market

Following the Eat on the Green weekend we have been asked to attend Ellon this weekend and try the weekly farmers market with the hope of attracting both more traders and more customers to the market... if you are out in the area on saturday morning please stop by and welcome us!

Charity Wins!!!

The Eat on the Green charity fundraiser in aid of Cancer Care Scotland was a great day out for all.   Those who came along to the event and raised over £5,000.00 on the day and exceeded the organisers [Craig Wilson]   hope of raising £10,000.00 in 2008 [the fund now exceeds £11k!] a big well done.

For such a small community to pull together and involve major sponsors and organisations it was a total triumph and a truly family fun day with great shows and music not to mention the food! If you wish to donate any amount please go to www.justgiving.com/eatonthegreen.

Next week we will be at Elgin Farmers Market

Huntly Famers Market - May 2008

The weather was fine this month and the May celebrations brought local events to the market, with children dancing and singing in the square. The market was busy with people enjoying the festivities. Next week sees us at Inverurie farmers market  and the Eat on the Green  charity event on the Sunday! I hope to see many of our customers attending this charity event and we wish the organisers have a great success and lets hope the weather is as good as this weekend.

Mcduff Farmers Market

The fuel shortage saw many of this weekends events limited in numbers, the market went ahead as normal with around a 50% turnout on normal. At least the weather was good in the end!

Elgin Farmers Market

Our return to the Elgin Farmers Market was a big disapointment this week with very few stalls and a poor turnout. The management of the market has changed since last year and many stall holders have decided not to return, We will attend next month and see if there is an improvement... if not we will have to look elsewhere for trading!

Inverurie farmers market

Again our return to Inverurie this year was met with some wintery cold weather, There was a good buzz around the market as the local press were on hand taking photos and making notes. The next Inverurie Market will see a new customer loyalty scheme trialed and it is likely discounts and promotions will be available... See Press for Details!

Next market is on Saturday 19th April 2008 at Elgin in the Plainstones  area

Huntly Farmers Market April 2008

This week the weather was not so kind with more snow falling, The market was quiet and visitors was down in numbers. The windy conditions added to the overall cold and sunday saw more snow on the ground! The weather last year was warm and sunny which saw higher numbers both at the markets and here at the nursery... lets hope the cold north wind changes direction soon.

We also learned of the death of one of our friends in the buisness who had struggled some 8 months with Cancer. Our best wishes go to the family.

Next week will see us at Inverurie Farmers Market  and we look forward to seeing you there.

First Farmers Market of 2008

Yesterday saw us back at the McDuff/Banff farmers market for the first time in 2008. The weather was kind after the snow of the easter weekend and many of our customers came along to welcome us back for this season. Although not many plants were on show due to the bedding season still being a month away it was good to be back answering questions and promoting our buisness. Thanks to all those who came and hope to see more at the Huntly farmers market  next week!

Easter opening!

Easter weekend was a whiteout here at the nursery with snow falling all over the weekend and on bank holiday monday. Alison has been busy potting on the summer bedding in the new tunnel with two pairs of gloves!!!! Hopefully the weather will improve by the weekend to start the market season off.... see you at McDuff farmers market this Saturday.

Busy times!

Well with valentines and mothers day over and our spring opening just under a week away its busy times at the nursery right now. The plants are all coming on great and with so many new varieties this season looks to be a good one! Our new tunnel is being installed and should be completed on Sunday [thanks to great friends and family for all your help!] and the damaged tunnel is fully repaired and stocked to the gunnels.

Hope to see many of you next weekend for the opening season and remember its not yet time to buy summer bedding, just because the sun says hello at the weekend its still frosty and the potential for snow is never far away!

Web site changes

The website has been upgraded over the past month to meet certain standards and allow all visitors to be able to easily read and enjoy the site. I hope you have noticed the changes and the amount of traffic through our site has increased because of our changes.

Some of you noticed the site removal on Monday the 18th and called to let us know and we would like to thank you! The site was attacked and this caused us to have some 20,000 emails and over 50,000 hits... to those who done this thanks it improved our ratings no end!!!!

Lastly The site has received approval by the good net guide   and we have been accepted into the Top 100 gardening sites. This is a great achievement for our little part of the world and to all those who have provided advice and help I thank you for helping us achieve this!

January Seedlings

Now the season starts again! Our nursery tunnel has been cleaned out and the new seasons seeds are planted and ready for spruoting. Tunnel 1 is still without a cover but has been assessed and we hope to recover in March [weather permiting!] A new tunnel is being looked into as well to enable our range of plants to increase.

Hope all our customers had a good christmas and a happy new year!

Storm Damage

The wild wind has caused havoc in tunnel number 1. The rear end which had a small rip when installing and was tapped up finally gave up and this caused a small rip to become a complete and total loss. The cover is gone with the wind and in turn has damaged some of the metal poles and caused the doors to come completely away.

Hey ho winters finally coming with a vengence!
